If every Vault has a unique monster, it should also have a distinct aesthetic and valuable rewards. Not only were the chests lacking in special rewards, but the formulaic nature of grabbing some kind of ability from an orange room meant that every Vault felt the same, something that should not be the case. A handful of chests lined the back walls, featuring loot that was no different from what could be found in the base game. ![]() ![]() When entering the loot portion of a Vault in Borderlands 3, players usually found the exact same things. Unfortunately, entering into these Vaults was anticlimactic, and Borderlands 4 has to put more effort into making each Vault feel unique. Borderlands 3 delivered on the promise made by Borderlands 2’s ending, allowing players to explore multiple Vaults and battle a few different Vault monsters. The Borderlands franchise constantly emphasizes the importance of Vaults, whether it be as plot devices that villains like Handsome Jack seek out, or sources of loot that the playable Vault Hunters want access to.
